shopping fruits“The Secret Coast,” as the Mississippi Gulf Coast is sometimes called, isn’t so secretive for those who know and love this area’s brand of coastal living. Biloxi itself features miles of sugary sand beaches, unique coastal communities, pulse-pounding casino action, and quite possibly the best BBQ shrimp and seafood in the entire world! From SummerHouse Bay Cove, it’s just minutes to most anywhere, allowing residents the freedom to get out and experience Biloxi’s rich entertainment offerings or stay close and just savor the peaceful waterfront setting that’s long made our community such a special place to live and call home.

No visit to our local area is complete without a stop at the Biloxi Lighthouse, the city’s signature landmark. The cast-iron structure has seen and been a part of history, with dramatic waterlines that show rising tide levels from hurricanes past. A bit farther down the beach from the Lighthouse is the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum, which narrates through an array of exhibits, artifacts and photos, and the region’s remarkable multicultural journey from the early Indian settlements to the modern day. Riverboats, fishing charters and day and evening cruises are among the favorite ways that locals like to get out on area waters.

History lovers and students of the U.S. Civil War will want to visit Beauvoir and the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library, a 52-acre site that’s home to the one-time Confederate president’s restored mansion, a museum and research library, 784-grave burial site for Confederate soldiers and families and more than 150 years of history and tradition.

For art and theater lovers, there’s Biloxi Little Theatre, whose stage has played host to wide-ranging performances since the theatre was founded in 1946. In addition, the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art (OOMA) is a Smithsonian affiliate and award-winning museum destination where contemporary and historic works, as well as the ceramics of George E. Ohr, the “Mad Potter of Biloxi” are on display year-round. Exhibition galleries are also found about town, including at some of Biloxi’s nationally-renowned casino resorts.

Feeling lucky? There’s no shortage of casino gaming options along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Local favorites include Harrah’s Gulf Coast, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and the fabulous Beau Rivage, all of which are located on Beach Boulevard within 15 minutes from our community’s front door. And, for fun-filled nights spent outside the casino setting, residents and locals alike head to MGM Park, home of the Biloxi Shuckers, Double-A affiliate of MLB’s Milwaukee Brewers.
